We’re so excited to share this romantic whimsical-style girl’s room treasure with you all today! Madeleine, the owner of webshop Leo and Moon, says she enjoyed creating the perfect space for her daughter Luna, five years of age, who loves nature, collecting things and daydreaming. Well, we have to say, discovering this room made us dream too. Grab a tea, make yourself comfy and forget about everything else as you’re about to spend a very pleasant moment.
Luna, the lucky owner of the room, lives in Bussum, in the Netherlands with her mum and dad, and two sisters. She also has a bigger sister who lives in Amsterdam.
The starting point for the room was the Mrs Mighetto “Land of Roses” wallpaper. For Madeleine it was love at first sight and Luna was very happy with it too. Together with the rattan headboard and chair, it looked wonders and the rest came after.
The other walls of the room were painted white as the wallpaper made quite a statement on one wall already and makes it stand out even more.
Madeleine tells us that she loves strolling through thrift shops, which explains the numerous vintage finds in the room. She loves fixing them up (if necessary) and to combine them with new items. Another hobby of hers is shopping on Etsy or Instagram where she likes to buy from small businesses, mostly from women who combine motherhood with entrepreneurship.
Even though the decorating process grew organically by choosing blush, lime green and mustard to match with the wallpaper, Madeleine reveals it wasn’t without a challenge. The room is small and only has one straight wall. At first, she thought she would knock out the large built-in cupboard as it took up quite a lot of space, but finally decided to keep it as the old green steel louve doors actually added character to the space. It also serves as a play corner where Luna plays hide & seek and have sleepovers with her friends.
Luna also enjoys playing with the doll house or crib together with her friends, who seem to love the space as much as she does. For quiet moments on her own, she can relax in the beautiful rattan chair and read a book…or maybe daydream a little bit more?
