Spring has sprung, marking the start of a new season and all the hope and excitement it offers up. It’s typically a time to emerge out of winter’s hibernation and take a fresh perspective on our lives and surroundings. Never has this felt more pertinent as we continue to face the challenges the world throws at us.

So, if the warmer weather and sight of early blooms are giving you the interior itch, you might just be ready for a spot of change and renovation.

Get ready for a spring clean, declutter and refresh as we embark on a tour of the top ten Insta kids’ rooms spring 2021. Which room will get your vote?

@mondocherry

Looking at Archer’s room makes us feel like we’re taking a dip in a luscious lagoon so it’s somewhat apt that the colour blocked wall is Dulux’s waterfall shade. The surf-dude print and raffia lion wall hanging complete the carefree beachy vibe and the mini guitar casually strewn on the bed by @oliverfurniture adds kudos to the laidback ambience. It’s a minty macaroon marvel full of toffee tones and neutral nuances.

@catja_em

Clean lines, solid colours and a precision paint job collide to create a peachy-perfect zen-like room that has tranquillity written all over it. It’s a space that simply oozes relaxation despite the powerful pop of mustard on the bedlinen and a starburst of tangerine. The hanging pendant lampshade is a spectacle in itself, but its position against the colour-blocked wall highlights its beauty further. Similarly, the pastels in the pretty bird print are emphasised by their place on the wall and punctuated by a hanging dot that contrasts with the white wall.

@arinsolange

What to do when your eight-and-a-half-year-old animal lover is growing at a rate of knots, and it’s time to decorate his room? Take a leaf out of Arin Solange’s book and go big on neutral wallpaper and subtle on the safari styling. The monochrome plaid wallpaper by @spoonflower is an inspired choice and is sure to offer longevity. It certainly packs a punch without limiting the décor. The plush giraffe is the most obvious signal of Jack’s affection for animals. Still, there are further hints of the animal kingdom in a pastel green jungle cushion, matched by a framed wallpaper cutting of the same print. An old school pennant throws in a touch of retro styling, and the terracotta bedding, designed by @beshkakueser and @erin_kendal, conjures up dusty jungle plains.

@home.with.nicci

Snow-capped peaks and a house bed of dreams create a magical space for Ophelia. We’re no stranger to a house bed, but this particular find from a Polish supplier on eBay breaks with the usual symmetrical approach, and the sweet chimney is a wonderful bonus. The soft pastel palette could be unisex with just the faintest dusting of feminine peach in the blanket and cushions. There’s nature in its many guises in this space, from the alpine mural and peelable sticker stars to a sunshine rattan mirror, a wooden cloud shelf, and not forgetting that @olliella basket full of beautiful blooms.

@its_all_about_the_house

Mila’s room exudes a remarkable timelessness owing to its skilful composition and neutral palette. If you study closely, the room is a blank canvas with pure white walls and matching sheer curtains and blinds. The dressings introduce the colour in the room, but it is limited to dashes of rich cinnamon and fern green even then. Text-based prints have a starring role with the rebel sign by @modocreative, giving a hint as to this room’s inhabitant’s personality. The playful ‘Relax, it’s only magic’ by @sebandchaliedesign is also an inspired choice.

@jo_at_sixty8

You could be forgiven for thinking the wall on the left is a striped wallpaper, but it’s actually wood-panelled. It was created using pre-cut 3cm strips of MDF glued to the wall and painted. Teamed with the delicate pink (Lick’s Pink 01) on the adjacent wall, it’s pure pastel delight. The alcove creates a perfect snug for the bed, laden with a smorgasbord of prints, textiles and colours. A bashful Miss Luna print by @hello-pea-and-me coordinates well with the @hmhome dotty bedlinen. So playful and pretty all at the same time.

@le_monde_de_jaia

Monochrome magic and loft living are the themes at the heart of this sophisticated kids’ studio, combining sleep and play in its masterful design.

The bed is IKEA’s Kura reversible pine bed with an annexe built on to create the ‘main house’. The shutters add divine detail, parting to show a glimpse of the black and white ball pit fun within. A grown-up lounge beneath the bunk offers a space for reading and relaxation, a holding room before alighting the unpainted ladder to slumber.

@miiakanerva

Chalky powder paint walls by @lakllitir add texture and depth in this beautiful boho girls’ room with its requisite Mrs Mighetto print. It’s a compact room, so storage is key to maintaining the ordered aesthetic. The pale peach wall pocket is cleverly hung from a coat rack, giving a slightly less contrived finish and a vintage wooden trunk doubles up as storage and a bedside table. We love the wire-framed bag hanging storage system by @everydaydesign.fi designed for recycling and stowing away.

@studio.architecture.interiors

A harlequin feature wall and a strong sense of play bring the pantomime to this neutral kids’ bedroom in a delicate pastel silver-grey shade. Functionality is built into every last detail. A slide to exit bed, a chalkboard bed rail with a built-in shelf and shape sorter detail in the bed ends. In case you were in any doubt, a tonal graphic print declares this bedroom fit for PLAY.

@viljapuuroa

Venla’s Instagram bio gives some clues to this gorgeous and eclectic kids’ room design’s provenance. ‘Colourful life from the greyest city in Finland’

Colourful, this room is, but in a most surprising way. A vertically colour blocked wall in magnolia, and pink blossom is interrupted by an arch of aloe, creating the illusion of a secret passageway illuminated by a rainbow teardrop garland and a bouquet of tulips. A dramatic and moody canopy in charcoal interrupts the colour parade but is halted in its tracks by a toffee candy-striped duvet cover. A charming little wooden family watches over the entire scene by @jo.ka_gallery from the comfort of a Lorena Canals monstera rug.
