It’s time to turn up the heat on room renovations. As we say farewell to the warm glow of summer, we’re ready to create cosy spaces of comfort and contemplation. The transition of seasons welcomes a return to hibernation and a greater appreciation for the indoors. Bring out the bunting, layer up the bedding and reach for pops of warming colour to welcome the season of cinnamon-spiced lattes and turning leaves in. Let’s start by taking a tour of our top ten kids’ rooms for Autumn.
Soothing mustard and navy textiles take up residence in this pistachio-hued corner of Noah’s vintage-inspired boy’s bedroom. The shade is Coastal Fog by Benjamin Moore – the perfect moniker for an Autumnal hue. Mama Carrie plays to her active son’s strengths with a collection of vintage sporting paraphernalia and injects adventure aplenty with the USA map banner by @crateandkids and a dino print by @roomytown There’s peace aplenty in this tranquil space.
That solitary magical wand hints at the splendour created in this spectacular space. A palette of soothing blush, champagne and a soft, heathery plum channel sophistication and grandeur. There’s a touch of boho, a hint of vintage and a measure of modern in this stunning girl’s room. The fairy-tale prints illustrating childhood daydreams and nostalgia by @irisethercom offer an alternative to Mrs Mighetto, while a circus bear by @deugniet_en_co introduces a little more welcome whimsy.
Just because the nights are drawing in and the light is fading, doesn’t mean it’s time to close the curtains on the delights of spring and summer. Monika keeps the memory of previous seasons alive in Laura’s room and lifts the spirits with hot air balloons, butterflies, and fertile blooms on the wall. Under the shade of a rose-tinged bed canopy, wildflowers sprout on the bedding, while a string of sequinned flags celebrates the arrival of pumpkin season.
You can always rely on @borastapeter to bring the cosy feels with their atmospheric wallpapers, full of depth and detail. In this instance, it’s Nocturne that introduces an enduring sense of Summer with its classic yet modern print. The deep green mono pattern adds a vintage touch, accentuated with a framed Mrs Mighetto. Wallpaper sample rolls strewn in a large wicker basket are a novel and inexpensive way to invite more flora and fauna into the mix – or perhaps they’re a nod to Julia’s next DIY project. A bouquet of dried flowers, hand-tied with an oversized ribbon, lingers purposefully on the house shelf, preserving memories of the season that has just departed.
Do we suppose an adventurous little cowgirl lays claim to this fabulously styled contemporary space? Moniek demonstrates another masterclass in pattern clash with fuchsia seashells layered atop a quilt cover of lush foliage, enshrined in a canopy of delicate dots by @wigiwama. A pop of pink in Playslaep’s half-moon cushion lifts the colour mood a notch, while Wigiwama’s cookie bean bag adds a snap of warming ginger.
This gorgeous corner is the epitome of autumnal styling. Fiery cinnamon tones in the canopy and corduroy beanbag add a little heat to match the strength of the herd of elephants depicted in the incredible watercolour effect wallpaper by @eudajmoniawallartist. A striking stencilled feature wall adds more woodland vibes to Emrys’ cosy chamber, and the faux ivy strewn around the house bed is simply charming.
Kelly takes Isaac’s loft-apartment-styled room to new heights with a spot of innovative wall panelling in a lush shade of Green 02 by @lick and the Lottie mid-sleeper cabin bed by @noa.nani
There’s a very grown-up vibe to this chill n’ sleep space with an inviting sofa installation courtesy of @possumplaycouch. It’s dressed sympathetically with a cushion collective in heavenly hues of pale beige and a statement ‘wild and free’ pillow by @hmhome. No wonder Mr. Croc looks completely at home in this space.
Nothing says autumnal hygge quite like a bunch of deftly coordinated neutrals. Layered bedding and texture play a prominent role in Bodie’s beautifully styled room. Woven rugs and baskets, untreated natural wood, framed forest friends, and a raffia lion by @button_and_bud invite nature indoors for a cosy retreat. A handful of jewelled tones make the cut in the teardrop and flag bunting, but otherwise, it’s a picture of biscuity, pale putty wholesomeness.
If the change of seasons from Summer to Autumn makes you feel blue, you may need a DIY tutorial from Sandra Serafia. Stella’s room is decked out almost completely in a wonderful shade of petroleum. Blue can typically be a cool colour, but an expanse of fabric in the canopy adds depth. Teamed with Midbec Tapeter’s Ivar wallpaper and a spot of wood panelling in a matching shade, this is colour goals! We love the nod to nature in the woodland-themed wallpaper and hanging foliage.
Robin’s room takes first-class honours for pattern mixing. Florals, stripes, checks, polka dots, and leopard print join forces for a warming infusion of colour that’s just perfect for hibernating into Autumn. ‘She’s a Wildflower’ wallpaper by @lust.home brings a lively bouquet of bloom to counteract the withering trees outside. Soft peachy tones in the H&M bedding and tasselled throw are ready to offer a cosy embrace, rather like the tonally matched plush octopus in the original Luggy basket by @olliella.
