It’s time to hunker down and get cosy. A change in seasons calls for all the home comforts you can muster up. A good place to start is with a paint and colour palette refresh. Opt for warm autumnal tones like toffees, coffees, cinnamons, and caramels or go for daring darker shades of midnight blue and petroleum. Leafy or botanical wallpapers can also reflect the change in temperature. Still, if that feels like an interior design commitment too far, you can always choose the less permanent option of accessorising with textiles and soft furnishings.

We’ve selected ten of our favourite kids’ rooms with all the fall feels. Grab a hot cocoa and join us as we get ready to hibernate!

Farrow & Ball’s Hague Blue sets the tone for this cosy corner in Liam’s dino-themed room, complete with a grown-up house bed by @de_gele-flamingo. We love how the inside of the storage cubes have been matched to the colour-blocked wall, creating cavernous hiding places for favourite toys and belongings. Elsewhere, there are other nods to the cosy season in a woven acorn storage basket by @hmhome and fantastic Mr Maileg Fox taking a break from his archery pursuits.

@karolka_home_nature

Lenka’s room is a masterclass in boho boudoirs with a neutral palette of creams, nudes and blushes peppered with floral wallpaper and bed linen. The delicate flowers in the latter suggest a connection with nature that feels autumnal and comforting all at once.

A wicker, twist-base peacock chair and rattan storage unit bring natural warmth that vibes well with a woven circular mat and a delightful daisy cane mirror. There’s so much to love in this room, but it’s the chunky cable bed bumper and canopy that make us want to clamber in and curl up to sleep!

@a_mami_home

This clover beige wallpaper brings a warming bouquet to this vintage spectacle. It’s a comforting pallet of creamy cappuccino and milky latte with some wonderful touches that create a traditional vibe. Did you spot the fabulous IKEA Ivar hack? A simple pine cupboard with the bamboo weave door option is transformed with an antique varnish and brass doorknobs. Retro suitcases add to the vintage theme and serve as practical under-bed storage while a pairing of hot air balloons by @superballoon take flight.

It’s a bedroom that reminds us of a classic children’s fairy tale scene, and we don’t want the story to end.

@home_fifty_eight

Leo’s space is a cosmic, busy boy’s bedroom full of adventure and a large hint of construction. The winning design is built on a solid foundation of neutrals. The galactic-themed wallpaper might be hectic, but it’s bright and breezy, along with the creamy house bed and tile-effect flooring. A red toadstool night light picks out a matching hue in the wallcovering, and a strategically placed builder’s hard hat offers a burst of sunshine yellow in the’ workshop area’.

@leoxbella

We’re in love with Isabella’s room – a treasure trove of delights in every nook and cranny. There’s detail at every turn, and an impressive collection of accessories and trinkets combine to create a personal childhood museum of fun and exploration. At first glance, there’s so much detail that it’s hard to discern a colour theme. If you look closely, you’ll spot a dominant palette of blues and yellows, including a couple of IKEA favourites – the Minnen bed in a vibrant canary yellow and a Duktig kitchen with a duck-egg blue makeover.

The real genius in this room, though, isn’t visible to the naked eye. You’ll have to check the grid to see what lurks behind those innocent-looking closet doors. Believe us; it’s worth the visit!

@houseonthehey

It doesn’t take a furry cushion from Zara Home to tell you a cool kid lives here, but it sure fits the space nicely! This gorgeous room channels an undertone of safari along with some literal references to the change in seasons. Take, for example, the leafy bedlinen by @hmhome and the fantastic handcrafted leafy bunting by @barnabjorn. They conjure up innocent strolls through the satisfying crunch of fallen leaves in late September.

A special edition Valspar blue creates the cool colour-blocked wall, with a pristine top white half playing home to a curation of wall art, including wire word art, bunting and prints.

@miniundstil

Farrow and Ball’s Sulking Room Pink sets the tone in this shared sibling’s room. A slim profile bookcase by @tidy_books separates the Oliver Furniture wooden day beds while a berbère style floor covering separates the gulf. A touch of asymmetrical rattan seals the serene deal with apple storage by @fermlivingkids on one side and an autumnal toadstool by @oyoylivingdesign on the other.

@thehomeofaboysmom

Deep Forest wallpaper by @majvillan and raccoon bedlinen combine to create all the woodland feels in Finn’s sweet little space. The colours are all muted save for that lovely burst of cornflower blue in the canopy by @tedenfred. Perhaps our favourite piece is the modern AIKO bed by @petitpuk. Its smooth lines and curves are appealing and child-friendly, plus there’s a hidden mattress underneath to make sleepovers a doddle. A close second is another Kids Interiors favourite – the study desk and mouse chair by @nofred. It gets us every time!

@onze.casa

A palette of toasted cinnamon, peachy blush and delectable fudge deliver an almost edible room. We’re big fans of the daisy love garland in caramel-peach by @jibbejebba. We had to look twice before we realised it wasn’t part of the Little Lights Mermaid lamp.

The delicate garland also works perfectly alongside the daisy decals by @kennasatodesigns. A bevvy of rugs, including a round patchwork, quilted mat in caramel candy by @moi_mili, invite the cosy in. Did you spot the chunky knitted rug, too? Turns out it’s a DIY kit you can make at home by @september18.nl. It’s the perfect ‘at home’ activity for when those wintry nights start to close in.

@our.home.atno50

There’s a sense of scale and height in this fabulously crafted space, and it’s all down to those perfectly painted peaks plus the unlikely pairing of a floaty canopy and stripy tepee. Why have one cosy nook when you can have two? H&M Homes’ much-loved giraffe is in complete agreement. The colour palette is cool, verging on icy, but the skilful addition of pattern in the bed linen and leafy rugs temper the chills. Of course, the ‘You are my sunshine’ print by @prettyinprintart also adds some welcome warmth with its lovely typographic sentiment.
