LITTLE MAN CAVE

Although we would all love for our little boys to remain a bit mischievous and adventurous forever, they are bound to grow up, one day. Until that day comes, we can do everything within our power to make them feel like they can conquer the world and to make their childhood happy and exciting. In their early age, everything they know about the world starts from their room, so why wouldn’t we begin our mission precisely from there? Here are some ideas for creating a little man cave every boy would wish for.

MAKE BOLD COLOUR CHOICES

Little boys are the bravest men on the planet, so why would you shy away from using bold colors in their room? Nothing is too much, not even an all-black accent wall, especially if your goal is to create a mini version of a man cave. Other colors you can use include deep shades of blue, olive green (because of that recognizable military vibe), grey, brown, dark orange, yellow, green, etc.

BOLD GRAPHIC EFFECTS WITH PAINT

Painting is easy: you see a rectangle shaped wall, and you paint it without crossing the lines, right? Well, in most cases, but don’t forget, boys are bolder than that. Experiment with various shapes and colours on the wall (e.g. black mountains on a white wall, orange and black combo, different shade in the corner), and you will enrich the space with special dynamics.

GIVE THE BOY A MAN’S BED

A typical man’s bed may not look comfortable, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t. Choose a manly furniture piece that resembles military bed (metal frame) or an old-century boarding school bed (simple dark wood frame). Equip the bed with a quality comfortable mattress and a few pillows.

AREN’T ALL BOYS SUPERHEROES?

If there is one boys’ room theme that can never get old, that is definitely the heroic one. It is even more popular than ever, due to the enormous number of superhero blockbusters and TV shows today. Introduce these motifs to the little man cave with wallpaper, throw pillows, bed sheet, artwork and figurines.

BOYS ARE HUNTERS

Maybe your little boys aren’t running through the forest hunting for deer, but they will surely run for that delicious morning sandwich you always make. You can decorate their room with faux taxidermy on the wall, cowhide on the floor and toy animals on the shelf. Put a DIY tent in a corner, and you will have a perfect forest adventure.

OTHER BOYISH THINGS

Go for the things that are typically boyish. That can be cars, airplanes, guitars, drums, but you don’t even have to be that obvious. Something as simple as rough lines and raw materials can make the room feel manlier.

And don’t forget the most boyish thing of them all “No girls allowed” sign on the door. Of course, you can add “except mommy” in brackets.
