Making just one wall or part of one wall stand out in a nursery will instantly add character and style to the nursery. The accent wall is usually made where the crib is as it is the centerpiece of the room and where your eyes turn to first. A wallpaper with a very bold or graphic design might be a little bit overwhealming on all walls of the room but by placing it as an accent only will look great!

A bold vintage wallpaper on just one wall looks fantastic when everything else in the room is contemporary such as on the photo on the left. Notice how the colours on the wallpaper is found on other elements in the room, such as the minty green on the flowers found on the canopy and the black on the rug. You can also hang a vintage fabric from a curtain rod covering just partially one wall as in this blue vintage nursery.
The accent wall can actually be the starting point when you start thinking about how to decorate the nursery room. Once you have found a wallpaper that you have fallen in love with and that you think fits with the character of your child then this wallpaper can help you to choose the colour of the other walls, the bedding, the lamps, the rug and cushions for example. Opt for colours that are in the same colours as the wallpaper but in slightly different tones or in colours that you think will match.
