Olivia is six years old and definetly a girly girl! When Linda from Nest for Kids Interiors was asked to design Olivia’s girlsroom she met with Olivia who told her she just wanted pink! Her mum, on the other hand wanted something that would grow with her. The end result is a fresh and adaptable girl’s room with girly touches..and a happy little girl and happy mum!
The starting point was the removable wallpaper by BC Magic Wallpaper in a soft pink trellis design. Linda wanted to create a clean and uncluttered girlsroom so the choice of the wallpaper is a perfect backdrop as it is not overwhelming while creating a focus allowing the girly touches like the swans, glittering eyelids and cushions to stand out. We love how the lightgarland hangs around the swan walldecor from Jack and Willow and down at the side of the bed creating a cosy and magic feel to Olivia’s girls bedroom.
Linda focused on using local designers and businesses for the decor as there are so many incredibly talented small businesses in Australia. The swan cushion was handmade by Bedros Design for example.
A felt garland from Winston and Grace hangs from a shelf next to a girly tutu dress and adds whimsy and charm.
The silverlined cloudrug is handmade by a rug company called Little P for Little People that only uses the best New Zeeland wool and high quality non-allergic dyes while respecting the environment in their manufacturing process. A cute rabbit print from Toucan sits next to the pom pom basket from Munchkin and Bear.
The pink and white duvetcover and pillowcase from Little Louli are handprinted with dots from a small printing studio located southwest of Melbourne. The bow chair was found at Little Earth Nest, a family business that stocks ecofriendly kids products as well as a range of unique handmade and local items from small producers.
