Elijah is a lucky little boy aged seven who got his boy’s room designed by Jacinda Malloy, the owner of Hide and Sleep kids interior design studio based in Melbourne, Australia.
Jacinda consulted Elijah’s mother and Elijah himself before planning the design of the room and found out that he loves playing outdoors, animals (and particular the rhinoceros) and that his favourite colour is red. With all these things in consideration, Jacinda thought it would be fun to place a teepee in his room so he could pretend that he was camping outdoors. Jane Reiseger was commissioned to paint a giant rhino on the wall with an accent red colour on the ladybird sitting on the rhino’s back.
Jacinda decided together with Elijah’s mother not to bring too much red in Elijah’s room just in case he changed his mind about it being his favourite colour. So she chose a crimson red to do the rhino mural and to include in the rug. The other tones of brighter red is found on the red shelf and the red side table aswell as on some details only. Orange and grey were also introduced into the room as they soften the brightness of the red and makes it a room that Elijah can still grow into rather than grow out of.
The little softie rhino seems to be keeping Elijah company in his cosy reading corner under the teepee!
Other animals were introduced into the room discretely without making the room look too jungle themed such as these little toyanimals placed on a shelf and a paper rhino and giraffe.
