Earlier this year, we predicted the rise of the ‘nude movement’ in our 2021 forecast for nurseries.. If the Pinterest boards and grids of Instagram are anything to go by, we weren’t wrong! Far from beige or vanilla, nude tones offer a palette of possibility, creating a blank canvas for pops of colour or allowing rich murals to ‘speak’ uninterrupted.

Nude tones are not only a frontrunner when it comes to aesthetics, but they also possess a restful quality perfectly suited to sleeping areas. The antithesis of shouty primary colours, nudes whisper their arrival. They may be understated, tranquil, and delicate, but do not underestimate their power to create beauty and presence that captivates and mesmerises.

Blooms and peach blush are baby Bianca’s flavour of nude. Rocky Mountain’s peony wall stickers introduce a bouquet of late spring to the creamy walls, perfectly matched by a floaty, star embellished canopy in pale peach. The vintage cot bed is adorned with a collection of cosy cushions, some in a darker, dusty rose for contrast.

Olivia’s bedroom is the epitome of girlie gorgeousness with its Boho Blooms removable wallpaper and Ivy and Aida’s Bonnie print bedlinen and Broderie duvet. The champagne and muted pastel colour scheme is fresh and feminine without being sweet and sickly, and there’s detail in every corner. What we love the most is Spinkie Baby’s Dreamy Canopy set, complete with cascading pop pom garland. If you look closely, you’ll see the golden crown atop, perfect for aspiring princesses!

Siena’s room reminds us of the most delectable creamy Cornish ice cream. We love how the frilled canopy blends into the bare walls leaving all the attention for those cutesy watercolour rainbow decals. Nude colour schemes have a wonderful affinity with natural materials like rattan, bamboo, wicker and jute, so the tidy-up-toys basket works perfectly in this room.  What Little Wonder brings a subtle burst of terracotta light to Siena’s room with their Sundown muslin crib – described as buttery soft and making it just as delectable as the vanilla ice-cream palette.

What did we say in the intro about nude colour schemes allowing the mural to do the ‘talking’. Annelies shows us how with this stunning Wallpaper Forest wallcovering in pencil grey by @pimpelmees_com. The bear and raccoon seemingly peer inside the mysterious canopy to see what magic lies within. This room is full of fairy tale wonder with a little snap of gingerbread thrown in to pepper the pale pink.

Just look at this cosy cocoon of bare beauty! A mere handful of neutral colours combine to create a tranquil welcome for little Loui. The duo-toned Lukas cot by @troll_nursery introduces a pale grey into this otherwise clay beige room. The natural dowels emphasise the hint of grey but also complement the pale apricot canopy. Floaty finishes like By On Designs’ balloon decorations and IKEA’s UPPLYST cloud wall light bring the sleepy vibes. Can we climb in?

@emmidaily

Powder pink and fit for a princess or two, this delightful room is cosy and bright all at once. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – never underestimate the transformational quality of a rug. This circular, shaggy rug brings light, love and a whole lot of cosy to this shared girls’ room.

Pared-back nude perfection gets the seal of approval from us, and it would seem Elch Kids’ plush rose pear roommate too! The natural IKEA cot is framed exquisitely by the near-identically toned canopy, and there’s just a peak of @sandys_rainbows boho macrame mobile. The mono polka dot bedding is a welcome addition that still conforms to the neutral blueprint.

Romantic and rural is how Kristina describes her unique brand of nudes, conjuring up memories of summers in her grandmother’s village. Pure white walls are treated to a sprinkling of wildflower wall stickers, while wicker furniture and a floaty butterscotch canopy complete this metaphorical walk in the meadow.

Cotton candy rainbow pastels creep into this vision of natural beauty. It’s a notch above nude with vibrant bursts of mustard in HM Home’s soft pile rug and velvet button cushion. We can only begin to imagine sleeping beneath Leo and Moon’s exquisite peacock, rattan headboard, and the bijou bedside table with its cute little bow feels like a gift bestowed upon this sweet girls’ room.

Mama Feliz turns convention upside down with her break from the norm colour blocking. More often than not, we see the colour at the bottom of the wall, but in Maria’s boudoir, it is the honeysuckle pink that gets the upper hand. Parisian chic with a touch of Italian in the Desenio framed print. Ciao Bella indeed!

Yvonne’s pastel-perfect styling is like walking into a magical bazaar, full of fantasy, delight and covetable knick-knacks. It’s far from minimal but still has all the calming quality of a sleepy haven to retreat to. Natural flooring and OyOy Living Design’s mushroom basket bring the organic textiles that work so well with a nude palette. There’s layer upon layer of minty macaroon and dusty rose detail, but the considered composition prevents it from busyness.

There’s an air of rosy sepia in Summer’s sedate sleeping quarters. Farrow and Ball’s Calamine paint introduces a pale pink tempered with a light grey to stop it from being too sugary. Texture is derived from a wicker side table, an ingenious end of bed basket and a chunky knit throw from IKEA. It’s a blissful scene of champagne, mink, peaches and cream topped off perfectly with a smattering of sparkly stars by @littlecloud.kids.

Sandy beach walls set the tranquil scene in Keyshia’s peaceful abode. Nuanced nudes, a mixture of textiles and prints and a delicate, dreamy moon light combine to create a grown-up boho vibe with glamour. We love the contrasting vanity cases tucked beneath the bedside table and the elegant swan taking flight from beneath its canopy hideout. This room has it all; stars on the bedlinen, the sun in its resplendent rattan glory and the soft glow of the moon.

In Katrina’s own words, ‘soft and subtle with a tinge of colour’. Maybe it’s Dulux’s Pancake Mix wall colour that contributes to such a sweet and calming space? Layla’s room is heavenly, for sure. The blocked colour paint job accentuates the natural IKEA cot perfectly, almost casting a dusky glow over the bare wood. A little belle toadstool nightlight is the icing on this expertly styled cake, ready to emit soothing rays from its bubble gum pink cap.

Oh my, little Luna Moon’s room is off the charts when it comes to boho glamour. Interior Supremo, Sophia wanted her baby girl’s room to have a mix of textures and patterns with new and original elements, and that’s exactly what she got. Incy Interiors’ rose gold baby cot delivers the statement piece around which all of the detail is arranged. It sits proudly among the Setting Plaster painted walls with an oversized tiered, tasselled pendant light by Anthropologie. Texture and technique bring a seamless fusion of raffia, foliage, wainscoting and altogether joyous ‘pinkness’.
