The black and white monochrome trend that we are seeing for boys’ rooms seems to be so popular that it will probably be around for quite a few more years to come…Some might consider it too serious or dramatic but others love the timeless modern style it brings to any boys’ room and that you can really play around with any kind of bold and graphic pattern and still keep the simple and clean look.
The monochrome black and white also gives a city kind of look.
The black and white room can be softened by choosing bedding and rugs that don’t have huge bold patterns and by adding natural wood, kraft or other natural elements sug as a jute rug for exemple.
Any graphic pattern will work together in a black and white boysroom – from large stripes, crosses to circles or any other shape. You can also play around with a wide range of themes for the prints, such as animals, words, cartoons, letters, geometrical shapes, really almost anything will look right as long as it is monochrome.
Bold black and white stripes really make a statement and can be placed on a throw, rug or as a border around the ceiling. Don’t hesitate to add tiny touches of colour such as red or pale blue as in these rooms (orange is also a great detail colour for black and white rooms).
Traditional designs such as football or peace and love designs will look more contemporary if they are in black and white.
