Today we’re taking you inside the bedroom of a three year old boy named Etienne! We were pleasantly surprised that his mother and interior designer student Tanya from Birmingham managed to make it so creative and special on a reasonable budget with furniture and items from High Street stores. It’s a perfect mix of Scandi and Monochrome, incorporating interesting features such as a striking mountain wall mural and pops of yellow. We had the chance to learn a little bit more about Tanya’s ideas and inspirations for the room.
The backdrop colour is grey which is also used quite a lot in the rest of the family’s house which is undergoing renovations. Tanya started the process of Etienne’s bedroom when he was two years old and felt that a light and bright Scandinavian style was perfect for a toddler. The blue chair was reused from his nursery so she tried to find soft furnishings and decorative accessories to match.
Storage was a main factor in the layout so all Etienne’s car toys and books could be organized. Ikea Ivar units were ideal in this space as they look stylish and sleek and serve as a table too for placing decorative elements. Tanya reveals that she managed to find so many elements from Ikea that were perfect for the room that it has become one of her favourite stores . We couldn’t agree more that it is definitely a great place to source for stylish basics as long as you personalize the room with something unique, in the way Tanya did with the eye-catching mural. However, the colours remained neutral, so it would be easy to just change the curtains and bedding to bring a totally new colour scheme if they fancied a change.
Thanks for the inspiration and ideas Tanya! @home.style.interior
