The first colour that comes in mind when one thinks of a boy nursery room..is probably babyblue. It’s the traditional and most classical colour. And the second would probably be grey..But why not green, orange, yellow or brown for example? You could also imagine blue in other shades than the classical babyblue..such as turquoise, minty blue/green or dark navy blue?

Navy blue is seen more often for older boys interiors but as you can see it works perfectly for baby boysrooms too! Some touches of white will be necessary for some brightness as the floorlamp from Crate and Barrel, some white in the pattern of the bedsheet from Hokoda and the wooden crib with white details from Nursery Works.

Another more classical version of a boy nursery would be grey, but you can pop it up by making an interesting wall like Leclair Decor have done by painting mountains in different shades of grey. The yellow sun on the wall, rug, blanket and cushion adds brightness and happiness creating a harmonous balance to the nursery.

If you really want to get away from the too-traditional baby nursery themes then try to look for wallart that would look good in your livingroom aswell. Whitney Mc Gregor, founder of the The Avarice which is an edgy and spiky interior design blog, designed this for her son and it has just as much character as the rest of the rooms in her house. The strong green in this nursery is in a perfect tone adding depth and interest accentuated by the graphic black and white rug.

The bold graphic rug combined with the small pattern on the nurserybedding in this monochrome brown nursery adds interest and focus with the centrally placed animal wall decor.
