We’re thrilled to show you our very first roomtour of the year, belonging to a little Frieda, who lives with her family in the German countryside. Her mum, Jasmin, is a huge fan of the boho style, which is apparent throughout this wonderful space, combining modern and vintage pieces in a natural setting.
The main statement in the nursery is without doubt the cacti wallpaper, that Jasmine reveals being also the most expensive element in the room. She found it before her pregnancy, but was just waiting for the right room – the nursery came just in time!
The boho feel is portrayed by the macramé nursery mobile, wall hanging, cushion and crafty handmade pieces such as the rope rainbow.
“ I like the boho style so much because it is an attitude of life for me; unconventional and natural” Jasmin explains.
Frieda’s nursery didn’t complete overnight. It grow over time.
“During my pregnancy, I found it hard to make decisions. The cacti wallpaper was already decided upon, but the rest was created in Frieda’s first six months.”
Jasmine found her inspiration on Instagram and Pinterest.
“ I love seeing all the different styles out there and how everyone develops their own personal touch. I think interior decorating is like handwriting, everyone has their own unique style, which is always reflected in some way.”
Frieda is lucky to own many cute wooden toys that are found a little bit everywhere in the room, serving as decorative pieces when she doesn’t play with them. Jasmine tells us that she never saves on toys, and always look for sustainable and quality brands. Therefore she prefers to buy wooden toys, avoiding plastic as much as possible.
When asked what she thinks will be the first change in the room as Frieda grows up, Jasmin replies:
“ I’m pretty sure it will be the wallpaper that Frieda wants changed. It may well be that she wants a total change; perhaps a room with pink and glitter? In any case, we will certainly be able to implement her taste with a little bit of our own style. I will definitely support her to develop her own taste.”
She concludes with a useful tip for other parents designing a nursery:
“ I think a kind of moodboard is always a good idea. You should ask yourself the question, which style you prefer and the colour sheme you want to go for. In any case, it’s good if you keep it simple at the beginning. In my opinion, a child’s room only grows when a child lives in it, so that you can respond to its need and the character of the child, whether that be calm or with a temperament.”
