Amanda, mother of Ari three years old and Zara one, is surrounded by beauty and nature everyday as she lives with her family on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. When she designed the nursery for her daughter, she wanted it to be natural, calm and simple with a few touches of florals. It is almost as you can hear the light breeze and feel the ray of sunshine on your cheeks when you discover this nursery. We wouldn’t change one single thing about it – it’s just perfect.
The cot in natural timber was the first element Amanda bought for the nursery. Above it hangs a handwoven macrame wall hanging which adds an earthy and crafty look. We love how it complements the flowery crib sheets with peachy roses and green leaves.
The shelves from Ikea were a must-have to display beautiful handmade wooden décor from small independent craft creatives.
The floral fabric can also be found on the changing mat and the storage baskets.
Amanda loves adding and changing things but always keeps the nursery clutter free. She sticks to the same natural tones of green, pinks and corals for the crib sheets so she to keep the same natural style all the time.
Natural elements are found throughout the nursery, such as cane on the toy baby pram and side table.
Amanda’s tips is to choose a colour, style or must-have piece of furniture and stick to that design scheme without making it too busy. She mainly shops online through small businesses she finds on Instagram but also recommends a great kids interior store called Peppa and Penny which is near Brisbane and has everything you’d need to design the nursery.
