This pretty pink bedroom oozes sophistication for a young lady who’s growing up fast. It was created by interior stylist Kristina Van Rooyen of All is Pretty for her gorgeous daughter, Scarlett. And Scarlett knew exactly what she wanted from the initial planning stage, as Kristina, explains, “Her wishes were very simple – pink! She is a very girly girl, and with her, I learned to embrace pink.”

Kristina’s vision was to create a space that Scarlett would love, but also a room that would grow with her. A neutral backdrop was specifically chosen to help future-proof the scheme, upon which touches of pink could be added. Light grey walls provide a blank canvas, while pops of colour come courtesy of the beautiful pink canopy, velvet sofa, luxury bedding, bed-side table, and hand-picked selection of artwork and toys. Kristina said, “At the beginning, she wasn’t particularly happy with the grey walls, but once all the pink furniture and details started coming in, she got more excited about her ‘big girl’ room.”

As the space started to evolve, Scarlett’s eyes were watching Kristina every step of the way. A cute little desk has been adorned with a pink pencil holder and attractive vase of pink flowers, while a stunning velvet sofa offers the perfect spot for Scarlett to relax and unwind with her favourite books.

We adore the monochrome over-sized peony wallpaper, which works to provide contrast to the pops of pink. It was the first item that caught Kristina’s eye when she started working on the project. She said, “I don’t know why, but when I saw it, I loved it, and decided to design the rest of the room around it. The great thing about this wallpaper is that it is removable. How good is that?”

With the help of her husband, Kristina transformed the bedroom in just one day. It is a winning combination of designer pieces and budget finds, with a sprinkling of fairy dust! One of the most enchanting features is a fairy door on the wall, which has a little letterbox for writing letters to the fairies. Kristina added, “The other thing that was very important in creating this room was to achieve some element of magic, something that really sparks imagination. My favourite part of the project was finding the design that would fit my daughter’s personality.”

The result is a dream scheme that has been given Scarlett’s seal of approval. She enjoys inviting her friends to come and play in her own little kingdom.
