Who says that a nursery for a babygirl has to be sugarcoated sweet with pink ? Certainly not Charlotte te Wierik, interior designer from Netherlands, who recently decorated her daughter’s nursery in a white backdrop with dashes of yellow, black and green. We caught up with Charlotte to learn more about her inspiration behind this beautiful gender-neutral space. Carry on reading..
“Many people thought it was a bit boring that I would keep all walls white, and that I would not hang curtains.”Charlotte reveals. Nevertheless, she was determined to go ahead with her plan – the white walls providing a quiet environment warmed up by the existing wooden floorboards and window whilst incorporating eye-catching and charming elements.
One of these was the old antique cupboard from Charlotte’s parents, that first served as a linen cupboard and later as a cupboard in the kitchen. She decided to paint it white and place a beautiful wallpaper inside it by Cole & Son with a slight Japanese appeal.
The tough steel wall shelves were custom made, where Loren Ivy’s possessions throne over an old mail sorting cupboard serving as an original changing table and chest of drawers.
“I’m very happy with room” Charlotte tells us, however adds that “ The yellow accents will certainly change again the short term. I have actually changed the nursery several times already since the last six months”
