We are so happy to take you for a sneak peek at a new kids room recently designed by Linda Vlahek at Nest for Kids – a kids interior studio located in Melbourne, Australia that we have already had the pleasure to feature here on Kids Interiors. This time it is a crisp green and white boys room designed for a boy called Jack, twelve years old, who loves soccer, football and surf.
Jack is starting high school this year and his mum wanted him to have a space he could hang out in that was stylish and cool. When you are a teenager your bedroom is always your go-to space, so Linda really wanted to make a space that he would enjoy being in, even during his homework hours. The pops of green reminds him of a soccer or football field and the gorgeous Byron Bay surfing print of his first surfing lessons.
Linda tells us that her favourite element of the room is the wall hung desk which she used to create a sense of space as she didn’t want a heavy-looking desk that would take up a lot of the room. It is actually a shelving unit from Ikea!
The biggest challenge with the room was that it is very small and that Jack needed storage and shelving. The desk leaves floorspace as it doesn’t have any legs and Linda also managed to make the room feel uncluttered and fresh with shelves hung on the wall with crisp green storage boxes for papers and magazines.
You would think the walls are made of bricks that have been painted white – but it is actually a brick wallpaper! It is one of Jack’s favourite element in the room as well as his own desk space.
The green accents can also be found on the pillowcover and a decorative cushion.
We love the different patterns, textures and shapes on the cushions.
