Deonne Rowland is the creative mind behind the London-based kids interior design studio « Odd Sock, Odd Shoe ». By the name you can already guess that you will be getting some interesting stuff for your kids’ rooms! It is exactly that; the studio mixes and matches classic pieces with mid-century furniture together with today’s children’s design from all over the world and it results in some amazingly styled kids’ rooms..

Recently, the design studio designed this room for Annie and Elsie (3 and 5 yrs old) who are two little girls sharing a room. The studio always tries to create “a happy bubble” for each space they design for children so the two girls were part of the initial design process by telling Deonne that they were keen on the idea of a “rainbow room”.  The two girl’s imagination and Odd Sock, Odd Shoe’s expertise and style created this utterly stylish and modern girl’s room that both the parents and the girls can be very proud of.

rainbow girlsrooms

What a beautiful sky for a rainbow room don’t you think? The blue is one of the main colours in the room painted on one wall where the names of the girls have been hung over their beds in bespoke fabric and wire letters made by Little Cloud. We love the poetic touch of the sparrows that have come out after the rain.. The colour palette is a soft alternative to the traditional bold and primary colours often associated with a rainbow and blends well with the vintage pieces and the Oeuf’s cushions on the beds. The ceiling lamp from Vita Eos looks like a cloud that has the sun shining through it. The pink Kalon Studios caravan divan beds come from Studio Mini Shop with a Kalon Studios stump table between them.

vintage 60's dresser for kidsrooms, oeuf rainbow banner

Above the vintage dresser (French 1960’s piece sourced by Odd Sock, Odd Shoe) hangs a rainbow banner from Oeuf in similar colours as on the rainbow cushions but with a brighter blue, dustier pink and a very 60’s brown hazelnut colour. The bespoke modern clothes hanger creates a good balance with the vintage rattan mirrors aswell as the modern touches of dot hooks painted in the colours of the room from Muuto. The supercool wooden cameratoy hanging from the clothes hanger is from Fanny and Alexander. The Oli and Ella toy storage basket can be found at Little Goldie.
